Hell (St Faustina)

𝗦𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮'𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹💟✝️ (20+) Facebook Fear Not

"I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abysses of Hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence...the devils were full of hatred for me, but they had to obey me at the command of God, What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw. But I noticed one thing: That most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell." (Diary 741)

"Today, I was led by an angel to the Chasms of Hell. It is a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it is!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐰:

The First Torture that constitutes hell is:

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙤𝙙.

The Second is:

𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

The Third is:

𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙚'𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚.

The Fourth is:

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩. 𝘼 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚, 𝙡𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙙'𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧.

The Fifth Torture is:

𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡, 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣.

The Sixth Torture is:

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣.

The Seventh Torture is:

𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙧, 𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙤𝙙, 𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨, 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨.

These are the Tortures suffered by all the damned together, but that is not the end of the sufferings.

𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬

There are special Tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings related to the manner in which it has sinned.

𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐝

There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another. I would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the omnipotence of God had not supported me.

𝐍𝐨 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥

Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like...how terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O My Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend you by the least sin." (Diary 741)

who is the holy spirit?

Source: Junie Densing, 10/22/2022). SVD Forum FB Messenger

"GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT enables MAN to grow, to reproduce, to move, to speak, to see, to hear, to taste, to smell, to feel, to know, to understand, to think, to remember, to imagine, to analyze, to determine what is good and bad, and to make free decisions."

kinds of grace

source: Fr John Hardon. Modern Catholic Dictionary. Eternal Life., https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/dictionary/index.cfm?id=36691&randomterm=false

1. actual grace = temporary (transient divine assistance) supernatural intervention by God to enlighten the MIND or strengthen the WILL to perform supernatural action that leads to heaven

2. efficacious grace = the actual grace to which free consent is given by the will so that the grace produces its divinely intended effect; (cause: grace itself c/o Banez, OP et al. vs. personal disposition c/o Molina, SJ et al. -- in both, efficacious grace doe snot necessitate the WILL nor destroy human FREEDOM)

3. gratuitous grace (gratia gratis data = grace freely given) = the free gift conferred on particular persons for the salvation of OTHERS; independent of the personal moral life or behavior of its possessor; e.g. CHARISMATA (prophecy, gift of miracles, gift of tongues), priestly power of CONSECRATION & ABSOLUTION, hierarchical power of jurisdiction

4. habitual grace = constant supernatural quality of the soul which sanctifies a person inherently and makes him/her just & pleasing to God; aka "SANCTIFYING GRACE" or "JUSTIFYING GRACE"

5. justifying grace = grace by which a person is restored to God's friendship, either for the first time, as in baptism, or after baptism, as in the sacrament of penance

6. sacramental grace = the grace conferred by the valid & fruitful reception of the sacraments

a. sanctifying grace -- baptism, penance, anointing of the sick when needed

b. sanctifying grace is ALWAYS increased when a SACRAMENT is received in the state of grace

d. actual grace is given by ALL the SACRAMENTS, either actually at the time of reception or also by title as a person needs divine help

e. the SACRAMENTAL CHARACTER is INDELIBLY IMPRINTED on the SOUL in baptism, confirmation, & the priesthood

7. sanating grace = divine grace in its function of healing [from Latin: sanare = heal] the ravages of sin, original & persona, in human nature, affecting both the MIND and the WILL

>Grace heals the WILL by giving strength to DESIRE and ACCEPTANCE the known WILL OF GOD, & JOY in its performance.

8. sanctifying grace = the supernatural state of being infused by God, which permanently inheres in the soul; the VITAL PRINCIPLE of the supernatural life, as the rational soul is the vital principle of a human being's natural life

NB: differential definition -- Charity belongs to the WILL, whereas sanctifying grace belongs to the WHOLE soul, mind, will, & affections.

:sanctifying = makes HOLY those who possess the gift by giving them a PARTICIPATION in the DIVINE LIFE

9. sufficient grace = actual grace considered apart from the supernatural effect for which it was bestowed; the grace that does NOT meet with any co-operation on the part of the human recipient, or the grace that gives one the POWER to accomplish a salutary ACTION

the one true church (principle of centrality -- my own :-)

From: Fr. Alan Meechan, SVD (2021 The Word in other words: Bible diary 2022) Feb 11, 2022 Friday in the 5th week in Ordinary Time [headings & caps mine]

A. Protestantism

"When I was a child in Scotland, I once asked my father: 'Why do the Protestants often say bad things about Catholics and hurt us so much? Our Church was there first. They got the bible from us, as well as their religion, but they changed them because there were certain bits they didn't like? My father answered my rather simplistic question: 'They would say that they broke away and became the real Church.'

"I did not understand them that they were and still are DIVINDING into subgroups and cannot possibly be seen as ONE Church....

B. Catholicism

"Sadly, the MORAL LAXITY, ARROGANCE, and INFLEXIBILITY of our own leaders at that time were largely the cause of the Protestant reformation. Even today we are confronted with our own SINFULNESS, and the sexual and financial scandals within the Church. We all echo St. Paul's lament: 'For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want.'

C. Solution

"Yet, in spite of all our failings, God is always ready to forgive and bring the Church back to the right way. We pray from Psalm 130 'If you, Lord, mark our sins, Lord who shall stand? But with you is FORGIVENESS, and so you are revered.' We also count on Christ's promise at the end of the Gospel of Matthew: 'And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.'

"As in today's Gospel, Christ is the HOPE of all who follow him in whichever way: The Church, the continuance of his mission in the world, has to be the CENTER, around which one day ALL must be brought together."

the real presence of jesus in the eucharist (bp rober barron, 2020)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzCPu_lEhe8

19 nov 2021

this just popped up in my youtube screen. for me, it's a confirmation of the last webinar I gave the SJFH seminarians (12 nov 2021) titled "in the beginning was the word..." by which I meant "I love you."

>"vi verborum" -- by the force / power of the word (council of Trent -- counter-reformation: "truly, really, substantially") vs. luther (Christ is "in" or "with" the bread)

>transubstantiation (st Thomas, affirmed by st pope paul vi in Mysterium Fidei just before the final papers of vatican ii would be released; "aptissime" -- most aptly called) is more than just transignification (change of sign) & transfinalization (change of purpose / finality) -- two popular theological theories in the 1950s & 60s prior to vatican ii

>in transubstantiation, the SPECIES / what is accidental (what is perceived by the sense) remains, but the SUBSTANCE / what is essential (the core reality) is changed! (st thomas used aristotelian philosophy to explain this theological truth)

>the priest who is ordained for the purpose utters Jesus' words in the FIRST PERSON during consecration vs prior to it which is third person: "Jesus took bread..."

>st thomas: in baptism, we were regenerated (generation), in confirmation incremented (augmentum), & in the eucharist fed (alimentum)

: the eucharist can be called a sacrifice (sacrificium) in reference to the past, a communion (communion) in reference to the present, a viaticum in reference to the future, & a eucharist (eucharistia) for all eternity because all we will do in heaven is to thank & prasie Him!

: the eucharist is not just a figure or a sign, but TRUTH (secundum veritatem -- according to the truth)

: substance is the deepest core of a being

7 gifts of the holy spirit (HS Fathers' Novena)

Re: Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Fr: Holy Spirit Fathers’ Novena to the Holy Spirit in Fr. Donald H. Calloway, MIC (2020). Consecration to St. Joseph: The wonders of our Spiritual Father. Stockbridge, MA: Marian Press, pp. 154-155 [parenthetical remarks mine].

1.    KNOWLEDGE – enables the soul to evaluate CREATED THINGS at their worth – in their relation to God. Knowledge unmasks the pretense of creatures, reveals their emptiness, and points out their only true purpose as INSTRUMENTS IN THE SERVICE OF GOD. It shows us the loving care of God even in adversity, and directs us to glorify him in every circumstances of life. Guided by its light, we put FIRST THINGS FIRST, and prize the friendship of God beyond all else.

2.    UNDERSTANDING [primarily cognitive, not affective, as used in psychology] – helps us to grasp the meaning of the truths of our holy religion. By faith we know them, but by understanding we learn to appreciate & relish them. It enables us to penetrate the INNER MEANING OF REVEALED TRUTHS and, through them, to be quickened to newness of life. Our faith ceases to be sterile & inactive, but inspires a mode of life that bears eloquent testimony of the faith that is in us.

3.    COUNSEL – endows the soul with supernatural prudence, enabling it to judge promptly and rightly what must be done, especially in difficult circumstances. counsel applies the principles furnished by #1 & #2 to the innumerable concrete cases that confront us in the course of our daily duty as parents, teachers, public servants, and Christian citizens. Counsel is SUPERNATURAL COMMON SENSE, a priceless treasure in the quest of salvation.

4.    FORTITUDE – strengthens the soul against natural fear & supports us in the performance of duty. Fortitude imparts to the will an IMPULSE and ENERGY which move it to undertake without hesitancy the most arduous tasks, to FACE DANGERS, to trample underfoot human respect, & to ENDURE WITHOUT COMPLAINT the slow martyrdom of even lifelong tribulation.

5.    PIETY – begets in our hearts a FILIAL AFFECTION for God as our MOST LOVING FATHER. It inspires us to love and respect for his sake persons & things consecrated to him, as well as those who are vested with his authority, his mother, St. Joseph, the saints, the Church & its visible head, our parents & superiors, our country & its rulers. He who is filled with the Gift of Piety finds the practice of his religion, not a burdensome duty, but a DELIGHTFUL SERVICE.

6.    FEAR – fills us with a SOVEREIGN RESPECT for God, & makes us dread nothing so much as to offend him by sin. It is a fear that arises, not from the thoughts of hell, but from sentiments of REVERENCE and FILIAL SUBMISSION to our HEAVENLY FATHER. It is the fear that is the beginning of wisdom, detaching us from worldly pleasures that could in any way separate us from God.

7.    WISDOM – embodies all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues. Wisdom is the MOST PERFECT of all gifts. Of wisdom it is written “all good things came to me with her, & innumerable riches through her hands.” It is the Gift of Wisdom that strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, & promotes the PRACTICE OF VIRTUE in the highest degree. Wisdom enlightens the mind to discern & relish things divine, in the appreciation of which earthly joys lose their savr, while the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness.
